A COREÓGRAFA (THE CHOREOGRAPHER)
Created from the encounter between concepts of reproduction and a determined set of images of women from the dance history, this piece explores possibilities of how to produce another body based on the fusion, division and multiplication of already existing female cells. The concepts of reproduction employed were related both with ideas of repetition and mechanization, as well as with the biological approach connected to the generation of another being. The determined set of images of women was framed by several representations of women which, throughout the dance history, were connected to narratives of marriage, impossible love and death. A work that investigates how canonical choreographies were choreographed by its social contexts and, at the same time, choreographed a place for women in society.
